RAIN SHIPPING

A raindrop that carries a ship

The company is called Rain, so the mark starts as a raindrop. Inside that drop sit a ship and a set of ocean waves, simplified far enough that the whole thing still reads at a glance on the side of a container. Three blues carry it, chosen for the sea and for the steadiness a shipping company has to project.

Project overview

Rain Shipping is a shipping company in Australia. The identity covers the logo, the colour palette, hull livery, stationery, office signage and container branding.

The idea behind the mark

Since the company name is Rain, the concept is based on a raindrop form, combined with elements inspired by a ship and ocean waves. These elements were simplified and integrated into a single form, to keep the logo clear and easy to recognise while still referencing maritime transportation.

Colour

Three blues carry the identity: a bright 0894CA, a mid 016AA4 and a deep navy 032D56. Dark blue and blue tones were used to reflect the sea, reliability and stability, which are important qualities for a shipping brand.

Applications

The mark runs at every scale the business works at. On the hull of a container ship and on the containers themselves it has to read from across a terminal; on business cards, a letterhead, an envelope, a keyring and a notebook it has to hold up in the hand; and on the marble wall of the reception it sits alongside the brand lines, Global shipping stronger together and People, cargo, connections, a brighter tomorrow.
