A printer range, right to left

Maadiran is the exclusive EPSON distributor, which means a catalogue that has to hold a long product range, its specification, and the service and warranty promise behind it, all running right to left. The cover keeps EPSON’s own colour language and hands the page over to the products; inside, the text column and the indexed product list sit either side of the gutter so a reader can find a printer by category and page number before reading a word.

Project overview

Maadiran is the exclusive representative for EPSON printers and scanners. The catalogue introduces the company and then carries the product range across its categories: inkjet printers, dot matrix printers, retail printers and scanners.

The layout

The whole piece reads right to left, so the grid, the index and the reading order are mirrored from the Latin convention. The cover borrows EPSON’s own colour language, a drift of overlapping rings, and otherwise stays out of the way; the back cover carries Maadiran’s logo and contact details.

Finding a product

The opening spread does two jobs at once. One page sets out the company: the distribution agreement, the service network, the warranty, the ink and ribbon range, and how the printer technology works. The facing page is an indexed product list, each category shown with a photograph of a representative model and the pages it runs across, so a reader can go straight to what they came for.
